Coomhola Lodge is the self-catering holiday destination for those with a taste for the unusual and interesting.

It was built in the late nineteenth century as a hunting lodge for Lord Bantry, at a time when the landed gentry had dozens of domestic servants. It was modernised and enlarged in the 1920s and again in the 1970s, but sensitively, maintaining its integrity. In todays more egalitarian society it is available for all to sample its delights.

It is located in the quiet, but convenient, Coomhola valley, about a mile from the famous scenic coastline between Bantry and Glengariff on the West coast of County Cork, Ireland.

It nestles in mature gardens, which really deserve the title of park, containing huge specimens of exotic flowering trees and shrubs from around the world. County Cork's highest mountain, Cnoc Bui, shelters it from cold northerly and northeasterly winds. The mild climate of this coast allows the growth of many exotic plants which will not succeed elsewhere in Northern Europe. The gardens blend seamlessly into the wild, with moorland & swift mountain streams within minutes walking. Loads of space for the kids to play and make as much noise as they like without disturbing anyone. There is also a hard tennis court.

The accommodation is spacious, with several different lounge areas to allow diverse activities without annoyance to others. Four bedrooms with beds for ten people make this an ideal holiday destination for an extended family group. A huge, well appointed kitchen will make it a pleasure to prepare those long communal meals which add so much to a holiday. Another important facility is a large utility room with washing and drying facilities.

The town of Bantry is about 10 Km away with shopping, pubs, restaurants and a cinema. Glengarrif, one of the best beauty spots in Ireland, is also within a few kilometers.
